HOW DOES THE PRINTING PROCESS WORKS?? PART 2

Seperti yang dijanji dalam post yang lepas, hari ni aku akan sambung balik cerita pasal proses pencetakan ni. Bagi yang baru terbaca post ni and tak tau what Im talking about you may refer to this post first.

 SOme of u may think, kenapa aku beriya-iya sangat nk cerita pasal benda ni. Hmmm well maybe aku rasa benda ni sangat interesting and aku x rasa kebanyakan orang2 tau pasal proses ni berlaku mcm mne. Konsep aku tunjuk ni di guna pakai oleh kebanyakkan kilang pencetakan x kira lah di kilang cetak majalah, cetak buku, surat khabar, cetak bungkusan makanan, brochur, dll. Cetakan konvensional ni x sama seperti yg korang nmpak kt everyday printing shop kt kedai tepi jalan kt taman atau bandar korang sebab mostly they all use Digital Printing process. MEANS a direct print out from PC to the printing unit without the help of any film and Plate.

Its  true that these kind of process sangat cepat, mudah, x susah nk buat plate and everything. well it's true BUT these kind of process is sgt COSTLY and ink dia sgt mahal. Jangan terkejut kalau diorang cas u guys mahal kalau korang print something. Bukan nk mengecilkan diorang cuma nk membezakan DIgital printing dgn konvensional printing. Lagi satu, machine printing ni mmg SGT2 lah mahal, if not mistaken reach nearly hundred of thousands ringgit. Since cost untuk print dia mahal, kos untuk penghasilan filem dan plate dh x payah fikir. and digital print sesuai untuk short run printing means cetakan dalam kuantiti yg sedikit x seperti cetakan konvensional boleh mnghasilkan cetakan melebihi ratusan ribu cetakan. Well simple to say everything has its place, pros and cons aite? 

anyways lets skip the introduction and move on with the topic shall we? on the last post aku stop kt bahagian plate making aite. so kita akan sambung terus ke bahagian pencetakan a.k.a PRESS. (like i mention before, carta alir printing, PREPRESS-PRESS-POSTPRESS) 

Selepas plate yang dh berjaya dihasilkan ia akan dibawa ke department cetakan untuk proses seterusnya. Sebelum plate dipasang ke printing unit, plate perlu ditebuk terlebih dahulu untuk memberi ruang screw cylinder masuk.

Setelah ditebuk plate akan dipasang kt plate cylinder. Ape tu plate cylinder? Okay another quick explanation,   dalam mesin printing or printing unit, ade banyak cylinder2 kt dalam tu yg berfungsi sebagai pengantara INK dengan SUBSTRATE a.k.a kertas. X paham? Okay maybe picture speaks louder than words =P

Agak2 korang paham x bila tgk bende menatang kt atas ni? haha okay2 korang mesti blur2 gak kn. okay aku akan explain kn jugak. Korang jgn pening2 sgt tengok byk roller/cylinder kt atas tu. Konsep asal dia hnya 3 cylinder je yg kita nk fokus kan. PLATE cylinde, BLANKET cylinder and IMPRESSION cylinder.

Seperti rajah diatas, plate cylinder terletak dibahagian atas skali. INK akan diapply ke atas plate cylinder, seterusnya INK akan di bawa ke Blanker Cylinder dan barulah dia di cetakan ke atas substrate/kertas. Impression cylinder tu berfungsi untuk memberi tekanan/pressure so that the INK will be applied evenly to the substrate. Okay so korang dh ade basic about this cylinder stuffs then we shall move to the next step.

As a quick information, usually in printing process. The image will be broken down into four different colours as i mention on my post before. CMYK (Cyan, Magenta,Yellow and Black). and for each of these colours they have their own plates. masing2 mempunyai plate untuk setiap warna tersebut. Kalau di perinci kan lagi tentang warna/colour dalam printing ni memang panjang berjela la, so the details will have to come later. Means kalau 4 colour, each plates must have their own printing unit. Cyan ade unit tersendiri, Magenta dan seterusnya. X boleh berkongsi.

Ni lah dia Pencetak konvensional yg aku ckap kn tu. BESAR kn, ini pun untuk satu warna sahaja. kt tepi tu ade lagi 2 Printing Unit untuk warna2 lain. This baby right here cost MORE than hundred thousand. memang mahal tapi limit production dia leh cecah ribu jugak.

Okay, some of u dh terfikir. kalau print satu colour je kualiti gambar dia mcm mne? Well kalau di print satu warna memang x nmpak lg. mean the substrate has to manually go through each of these printing unit.Agak leceh kn? =D Okay another picture to make things more clear. 

Bila substrate/kertas dh melalui setiap Unit warna masing2. Then baru lah image sebenar terlihat/terhasil. 

So ape step seterusnya? kita masuk pulak ke bahagian POSTPRESS which is the final step in the process. Hmm ape yg ade kt POSTPRESS nieh? Senang citer kerja2 finishing. Kerja2 seperti pemotongan, Binding, dll. 

Mesin Pemotong Kertas, aku x tipu mesin ni tajam gila. Kertas tebal sejengkal pn mesin ni rilek je potong, skali jalan je..haha. DOnt worry, ur hands wont be cut of sebab mesin ni dilengkapi dengan sensor. if any thing that is in the way the machine will automaticly disables.

Bagi cetakan untuk buku, process seterusnya adalah Binding proses. Antara binding yang popular ia lah Perfect Binding, sesuai untuk buku yang melebihi 100 muka surat ke atas.

Well rasanya sampai disini je process pencetakan ni. Basicly and roughly the process are like this and kalau pegi mana kilang cetakan pn the concepts are the same.
